The six Qaris, selected from the 24 reciters who participated in the first round, are from 5 countries, Al-Kawsar public relations office announced.
Mahmoud Mohammad Yusuf Aql and Karim Al-Hariri from Egypt, Seyed Jafar Seyedi from Iran, Karim Mohseni from Afghanistan, Ali Al-Ziyadi from Denmark, and Hassan Mahmoud from Iraq will compete in the next round of the contest.
Titled "Inna lil-muttaqina Mafaza" (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31), the competition is annually organized by the TV network during the holy month of Ramadan.
The seventh edition of the competition began Saturday, June 28, the first day of Ramadan.
The top winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of 5000 dollars.
The jury panel of the contest in the second round comprises eminent Quran experts including Falah al-Najafi from Iran (Tajweed), Imad Rami from Syria (Sowt), Meytham al-Rikabi from Iraq (Lahn) and Abdullah al-Ibil from Kuwait (Waqf and Ibtida).
The phone-in Quran contest is aired on Al-Kawsar network for 70 minutes every night.
