Exactly one month after the eruption of the Israeli offensive in Gaza besieged strip, Israeli resumed its air strikes on Gaza on Friday.
The Israeli airstrikes resulted in the death of a 10-year-old Palestinian boy near mosque in Gaza city.
In Israel, police said two people were injured by mortar fire from Gaza.
Hamas said Palestinian factions had not agreed to extend the truce, but would continue negotiations in Cairo.
"Discussions in Cairo have not finished and we will pursue our efforts to stop the aggression and achieve the just demands of our people," an Islamic Jihad official said.
The Palestinians had wanted Israel to agree in principle to demands which include a lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip, the release of prisoners and the opening of a sea port.
Israel has been launching relentless airstrikes against Gaza since July 8 where hundreds have been killed and thousands injured.
Israel occupation forces started a ground invasion of besieged Gaza, home to two millions civilian, on Thursday, July 17.
Health officials in Gaza said 1,868 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed and nearly 10,000 injured since Israel launched its war on the besieged strip.
