According to Al-Yawm Al-Sabi’ news agency, the meeting was held with the participation of Dhul-Qarnayn, the president of the university and Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, the sheikh of Al-Azhar.
Dhul-Qarnayn proposed that the Islamic center dispatches experts to evaluate and supervise the Quran writing project in Brunei and also provides the country with some Islamic manuscripts of the center’s library.
The scholar from Al-Azhar then stressed the necessity of developing relations with Brunei and expressed his willingness to cooperate with this country in all cultural and religious arenas.
Brunei is a sovereign state located on the north coast of the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. Islam is Brunei's official religion, 64 percent of the population is Muslim.
