Forum in Thailand to Discuss Threat of Takfiris
Thailand's Center for Islamic Studies will organize the event in cooperation with the Iranian Cultural Center in the country, IQNA's Southeast Asia branch reported.
Over 250 scholars, thinkers and academics are expected to take part in the forum, which is slated for Saturday, August 23.
Takfiris are extremist groups that have a radical interpretation of Islam and consider everyone other than themselves to be infidels.
Takfiri militants, including those belonging to the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), have committed heinous crimes in countries like Syria and Iraq.
Muslim scholars and personalities have stressed the need for formation of a coalition of Muslim countries to confront the phenomenon of Takfir.
