Sayyid Nasser Yusuf al-Saliti, head of the organizing committee, on Monday said the move aims to encourage the youth to learn and memorize the Quran, al-Sharq daily reported.
He added that there have been changes to the memorization category of the competition this year, with the aim of promotion of pondering over the Quran.
According to al-Saliti, registration for this year's Quranic event will start on Monday, September 15.
He predicted that the competition will be received well by Qatari nationals as well as expatriates living in the Arab country.
Qatar is a Muslim-majority country on the coast of the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf.
