Main Purpose for Learning Quran Is Pondering Over Its Teachings

Custodian of the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf, Iraq, said contemplating the Quran's teachings and concepts is the main purpose for learning the Quran.

Speaking in a meeting with the officials and staff of the holy shrine's Dar-ol-Quran Center, Sheikh Ziaeddin referred to verse 29 of Surah  Saad "[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded," and said the verses emphasizes the importance of pondering over the Holy Book.
He added that the Holy Quran's teachings should be manifested in the life of those who learn, memorize and recite the Quran, the website of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Ali's (AS) holy shrine reported.
Sheikh Ziaeddin further appreciated the efforts made by the Dar-ol-Quran Center to spread the Quranic culture and values.
He added that these activities should be directed in such a way that they will promote reflecting upon the Quran among the people.
