Latin American Muslim Leaders Gather in Turkey

Turkey’s Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet) is due to host a summit for Latin American Muslim leaders in November.

The summit is part of an effort to reach Muslim communities around the world, Hurriyet Daily News reported.
The Eurasian Islam Council, the African Religious Leaders Summit, the Meeting of European Muslims, the Balkans Meeting of Religious Directorate Heads and the World Islam Scholars’ Peace, Moderation and Foresight Initiative will also participate in the summit.
Diyanet head Mehmet Gormez said these platforms were launched to solve problems about why “religions, which brought peace and safety to the world, have begun to be seen as obstacles to peace.”
