He referred to the extremist activities carried out in the name of Islam and said Austrian Muslims condemn misinterpretation of Islam's Holy Book by extremists and terrorists.
The Austrian government's decision to present a standardized German translation of the Quran is part of a bill whose aim is updating Austria's laws about Islam that have been in place since 1912.
Islam is the second most widely practiced religion in Austria. Around six percent of the country's population is estimated to be Muslim.
