Forum in Egypt to Discuss Book on Quranic Sciences

“Concept of Text; A Research in Quranic Sciences” is the title of a book to be investigated in a forum on October 28 in Egypt.


According to Sada El-Balad website, ‘Afifuddin Library at the Culture Palace of Asyut Province of Egypt will host the forum.

The Quranic work by Nasr Hamid Abu Zeyd, is the collection of the author's lectures presented at Cairo University.

It has attracted many of Quran researchers, Muslim critics and even a number of orientalists.

The forum has been planned as a part of the series of intellectual-literary programs weekly held by the General Office of Egyptian Authors.

‘Atif Al-‘Azazi, who is in charge of the library, said that the forum is open to all Egyptian citizens, researchers, scholars and those interested in Quranic issues.

Promoting the valuable intellectual works of the country’s authors is the main objective of the program.

The book is both a traditional and a modern work, since it covers discussions on Islamic heritage as well as new research methodologies in Quranic sciences.

The concept of revelation, who was first addressed by the revelation, where the Quranic verses were revealed (in Mecca or Medina), miracle of the Holy Quran, relations between the Surahs and verses, interpretation, jurisprudence, theology, Quranic stories, etc. are some of the themes of the book.

A Persian translation of the book by Morteza Karimi Niya, Iranian translator, has been published in Tehran.
