Int’l Quran Competition in Saudi Arabia to Kick off Today

The 36th edition of the international competition on memorization, recitation and interpretation of the Holy Quran in Saudi Arabia will begin today, November 15, in the Grand Mosque in Mecca.


According to Okaz newspaper, the competition is organized by the Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Various halls of the Grand Mosque will host the Quranic event until November 19.

Memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed, pronunciation and interpretation of Quranic terms, memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed and pronunciation of Quranic terms, memorization of 15 successive Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran with Tajweed and pronunciation and memorization of 5 successive Juzes of the Holy Quran with Tajweed and pronunciation are the categories of the competition.

The fourth category of the competition has been planned for the participants from non-Muslim countries.

The Quranic competition is the only international event held at Masjed Al-Haram and highly received by scientific circles, advertising institutions and activists in Quranic fields.

138 representatives from 59 countries will participate at the 36th international Quran competition in Saudi Arabia.
