-- At a meeting with the officials in charge of Malaysia’s National Institute for Translation, Iran Cultural attaché in Kuala Lumpur urged that works by the late Allameh Tabatabai, Iranian Muslim philosopher, be translated into Malay language.
During the meeting attended Mohammad Kheyr, head of the institute, Mohammad Hassan Vahedi said, “The works by the great contemporary philosopher Sayyed Mohammah Hossein Tabatabai seem to be very good sources to be introduced to the Malaysian scientific society which is in need of philosophical books.
He said that translation of three of his books, namely “Principles of Philosophy and Method of Realism”, “The Beginning of Wisdom” and “The End of Wisdom” into Malay can be very fruitful for Malaysians who are interested in philosophical issues.
“Allame Tabataba’i was a great contemporary philosopher, all of whose students can now be considered reliable sources of reference,” he stated.
Regarding the Ibn Arabi scientific and cultural seminar which was held a month ago in UM University, he said, “A collection of scientific papers presented by nine Iranian and Malaysian lecturers on mystical thoughts and character of Ibn Arabi will be translated into Malay language in cooperation with UM University.”
Welcoming the suggestions by Iran cultural attaché on translation of works of Muslim philosophers, head of Malaysia’s National Institute for Translation said that a contract will soon be prepared by the institute for translation of Allameh Tabatabai’s works.
