IQNA – A Quran competition for male and female students of government and private schools began on Yemen’s Hodeidah Governorate on Sunday.

A Quran competition for male and female students of government and private schools began on Yemen’s Hodeidah Governorate on January 4, 2026.

 

The educational sector in Al-Hali Directorate, Al-Hodeidah Governorate, launched the competition as part of the cultural skill program under the slogan "And recite the Quran with measured recitation."

Sixty male and female students from the directorate's schools are competing in the two-day competition in categories of memorizing the Holy Quran: "3, 5, 10, 15, and 30 parts," organized and judged by the School Activities and Quran Education departments.

During the launch, the official of the educational sector in the governorate, Omar Bahr, emphasized the importance of the competition in encouraging students to memorize and recite the Book of God beautifully, and in promoting faith values and the Quranic identity among the youth.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Directorate, Muayid Al-Muayid, pointed out that the directorate gives utmost attention to educational activities, foremost among them Quranic competitions, due to their role in developing students' abilities and refining their talents.

The Director of the Education Administration in the directorate, Hassan Wahban, explained that the competition comes within the plan of school activities for the academic year, contributes to discovering those distinguished in memorization and recitation, and motivates students to engage with the Holy Quran.
