-- An internationally known Iranian Quran reciter says the Islamic Republic of Iran's Quranic programs during major Hajj are given a broad welcome by pilgrims from other countries.
In an interview with the Iranian Quran News Agency (IQNA) Qasem Razi'ee, who headed Iran's delegation of Quran reciters to major Hajj last year, described the Quran as the common ground among all Islamic schools of thought, adding that the most effective way to win the hearts of Muslims is through the holy Book, for it is the language that can be easily understood by all Muslims.
"Due to lies spread by Wahabis’ propaganda machine against Shias, Hajj pilgrims from other countries are surprised to see Iranians' mastery over Quran recitation rules and the way they recite the Noble Quran," said Razi'ee, adding that holding Quranic gatherings by Iranian Quran reciters at sacred sites in Mecca and Medina can dispel suspicions about Shia Islam.
Every year a 30-strong delegation of Quran reciters, selected by the High Council of the Quran, are sent to major Hajj under the patronage of Iran's Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.
During the Hajj season the reciters perform recitations and religious songs at the Prophet (PBUH) Mosque in Medina and the Grand Mosque in Mecca as well as among Iranian and foreign pilgrims at their hotels.
Last year, recitations by the Hajj Quranic delegation were for the first time aired live by Iran's Quran Radio.
