The decision was made in a gathering of the association members on Monday, April 2, Zaman daily reported.
The gathering was held to mark the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the association.
In a speech at the program, Abdullah Dalkilic said the Islamic Association of Finland was founded in 2006 with the purpose of coordinating the activities of the country’s Islamic societies and institutes.
He said the association is the only official Muslim institution dealing with the government of Finland.
According to Mr. Dalkilic, the association represents over 50,000 Finish Muslims.
He said the association annually receives 60,000 Euro from Finland Education Ministry, adding that the money is spent for organizing interfaith dialogue meetings and other activities.
