Cologne Mayor against Efforts to Impede Mosque Construction
Mayor of the German city of Cologne has published a special brochure to acquaint the citizens with mosques and Islamic centers and inform them about efforts to hamper construction of Islamic centers.
The 60-page brochure is also aimed at confronting the propaganda of radical right-wing groups against building mosques and minarets in the West European country, dunyabulteni reported.
Titled “Struggles for Constructing Mosques”, it has been prepared in cooperation with the Society for Fighting right wing radicals.
Three of the society’s experts have written the brochure using the expertise of research groups from the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen in west Germany.
Among the issues discussed in the brochure is constructing a great mosque in Cologne by the Turkish-Islamic Union affiliated to Turkey’s Dianat Department.
Over 4 million Muslims live in Germany, making up some 5 percent of the population.
