Talking to IQNA about the forum on “Quran’s Cognitive Miracles” which is to be held at Fahim Cultural-Research Center, Hojat-ol-Islam Alireza Ghaeminia, academic board member of Islamic Culture and Thought Research Center, said that the forum is aimed at explicating the miraculous aspect of the Holy Book based on the rules and principles of cognitive linguistics as the most important branch of linguistics in the past decade.
“The forum will first discuss the main assumption of cognitive linguistics followed by its application on the Quranic verses as well as a set of concluding remarks to prove the thesis at the end,” he went on to say.
Referring to various viewpoints to investigate Quranic miracles, Hojat-ol-Islam Ghaeminia added: “An important miraculous aspect concerns the literary and verbal uniqueness of the Holy Book which is manifested in its linguistic techniques and their close association with the meanings and concepts implicit within the verses.”
“The cognitive aspect is much more comprehensive than the literary one and relates to the Divine representation of facts and events which can be best explained through linguistic principles.”
“We need to consider the Quran’s unique conceptualization of different phenomena and interpret the verses based on rules of cognitive linguistics,” he further noted.
The forum on “Quran’s Cognitive Miracles” will be held on April 7 at Fahim Cultural-Research Center in Qom.
