Education Ministry Has Various Quranic Plans for Current Year
Director General of the Quran, Prayer and Etrat Department of the Ministry of Education said the ministry is to implement various Quranic plans in the first half of the current Iranian year that began on March 20.
Mohammad Bonyadi told IQNA that the National Quran Memorization Plan, which started last year, would continue to be carried out for school students and Education Ministry staff.
He said over 5000 students and ministry personnel have started learning the Quran by heart after registering for the plan.
The official added that another program of the department is organizing an educational course for prayer instructors, teachers of Quran schools and instructors of the ‘Religious Discourse on Etrat’. “The program is slated for May 8-14 in the holy city of Mashhad.”
According to Mr. Bonyadi, the department also plans to hold Quran and prayer contests for students and a national Quran competition for the personnel of the ministry. He said winners of these competitions will participate in the first Quranic Olympiad of the School Students of the Islamic World, which is scheduled to be held in Tehran in September.
He went on to say that the Education Ministry will also have an active participation in the International Holy Quran Exhibition during the holy month of Ramadan.
