Martyr Sadr Was A Theorist of Islamic Awakening

Tunisian scholar Muhammad Tijani Samawi stressed that Martyr Muhammad Baqer Sadr was a theorist of Islamic Awakening in the world.
He made the remark while addressing a conference on “Revival of Martyr Sadr’s Thought” held in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq, on Saturday.
The international conference was organized on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Sadr’s martyrdom with the motto of “Martyr Sadr, Pioneer of New Islamic Movement”.
30 scientific papers were presented at the event, which was attended by scholars and thinkers from Iraq as well as Lebanon, Tunisia, Senegal, Iran, and Kenya.
Samawi, who used to follow Maleki school of thought and later converted to Shiism, added that Martyr Sadr left precious works in different ideological, philosophical, economic and Fiqh (jurisprudential) fields.
Prayer leader of Najaf Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Sadreddin Qabanchi was another speaker at the conference who said grand Ayatollah Sadr was the founder of Islamic revolution in Iraq and one who established the pillars of change in the Iraqi society with his theories.
He also pointed to the purpose of the conference, saying it aimed to shed light on the thoughts, ideas and works of Martyr Sadr.
Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Baqer Sadr was martyred by the Ba’thist regime of Saddam Hussein in 1980.
