Talking to IQNA, Marizeh Vadih Dastjerdi, minister of Medical Education, appreciated the elderly’s attempts to improve their health over life, adding “The very fact that they can now experience old age shows that they have always taken heed of their health during their life.”
Highlighting the significant role of religious beliefs in improving one’s health, she noted: “A hopeful life is manifested in trusting God as our sole creator who can best help us in the path of life.”
She further referred to the ministry’s undertakings for this age group including establishing a new major program in Elderly Specialized Clinical Medicine, as well as offering courses on elderly studies at BA and PhD levels.
“Considering the increasing number of the elderly in the country, we need to devise more appropriate plans for improving the lifestyle, nutritional habits and health level of this age group, as the need for medical services increases with aging,” she went on to say.
She further highlighted the necessity of respecting the elderly by providing good health care for them and improving their health in both physical and spiritual aspects.
