OIC to Hold 9th Conference of Information Ministers in Gabon Next Week

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced on Tuesday that it would be holding its 9th Conference of Information Ministers in Gabon on April 19-20, focusing on media technologies in serving peace and development.
According to press statements by OIC’s sources, there will be several issues to be discussed during the conference, particularly role of Islamic countries’ media in supporting the issues of city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as establishing two media plans, in which the first would be involved in the mission of media activity abroad to serve Islamic issues, while the second one would highlight the role of African continent in the Islamic Nation.
The conference would also be discussing proposals on forming a union for Muslim journalists, opening of OIC’s media offices in some countries, activation cooperation between OIC and the Global Digital Solidarity Fund and coordinating in media field under the framework of OIC’s system in order to present and integrated image for the joint Islamic work, noted OIC’s sources.
Moreover, it pointed out that the next conference would discuss the reconstruction of IINA and Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU), the current development of establishing authorities’ forum on organizing broadcasting between member countries, cooperation under the framework of OIC’s Computer Emergency Response Team and affirmation on implementing decisions of previous OIC’s Conferences.
