A competition on recitation and memorization of the Holy Quran and Adhan (call to prayer) is scheduled to be held in Tolyatti, Russia, the Office of Russian Muslims Affairs announced on April 9.
According to IQNA’s branch in Europe, the competition will be held early summer and the exact dates will be announced by the office later.
While this edition of the contest is organized for students of local Islamic schools, it is also open to others willing to attend.
A number of courses on memorization of the Holy Quran and Islamic principles have also been planned to be held in the following days by the scholars and clerics at the Grand Mosque of the city.
The city recently hosted the 2nd workshop of Islamic education. It was held with the participation of more than 100 experts and religious sciences teachers of public schools.
Muslims make up some 14 percent of the population of Russian, which is a predominantly Orthodox Christian country.
