The international gathering, involving eminent Arab and foreign religious scholars, got underway late on Thursday, under patronage of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashed Al-Maktoum.
Among the attending prominent figures is the Imam of Kuwait's Grand Mosque Sheikh Meshari Al-Afasi, the US pearcher Yusu Estes, Abdur Raheem Green, an imam at the London Central Mosque, and Zakir Naik, the president and founder of the Islamic Research Foundation in India.
"Every human being wants peace. They want what goes with real peace. Islam is all about peace," said Estes, in his inaugural speech the convention. "Purity is another important part of peace.
"We intend to present through this conference a lot of amazing things." The renowned scholars will deliver speeches and answer questions during the three-day conference, held at the Dubai World Trade Center.
