Kebbi Votes N35.6m to Promote Islamic Education
The Kebbi Government has earmarked N35.6 million for the promotion of Islamic teachings, learning and morals in schools.
Alhaji Mainasara Sajo, the Executive Secretary of the state Arabic and Islamic Education Board, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
He said regular Qur'anic competitions would also be organised, adding that "we would educate youths on peaceful propagation of Islam".
Sajo said “the efforts of the board had resulted in winning laurels for the state in national and international Islamic competitions between 2007 and 2009".
He said the state recently won prizes at the annual National Qur'anic Competition by emerging fourth in the recitation of the complete Qur'an; third position in 20 Hizb and second in female category of 20 Hizb.
"The board would ensure regular training of competitors, considering the support by the authorities in participating in Quranic competitions."
