Preparatory Meeting to the 9th ICIM Held in Libreville

High Officials from member States of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) started yesterday in the capital of Gabon, Libreville, a two-day meeting in preparation of the 9th Islamic Conference of Information Ministers (ICIM).
The chairman of the 8th session of High Official session, the representative of Morocco, the chairman of the 9th session, the representative of Gabon, as well as the Representative of the OIC Secretary General, made speeches in which they stressed the importance of Libreville meeting being held at a time of junction characterized by a multitude of challenges in the world in general, and in the Muslim Ummah in particular. Later, participants elected members of the Bureau and adopted the agenda and their work program.
The agenda of the conference includes among others, Information in OIC member States and its role in supporting the causes of Al-Quds and Al Aqsa mosque, restructuring process of the International Islamic News Agency (IINA) and the Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU), the establishment of an OIC Muslim journalists Union, opening Media offices in some member States and the project of launching an Islamic TV satellite channel called OIC.
President Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon will open the 9th ICIM called “the Session of Information Technologies in the service of peace and development” at the Conference Palace at the Democracy City. The Prime Minister and Members of the Gabonese government and Presidents of constitutional institutions, as well as heads of diplomatic missions in Gabon, will attend the opening ceremony of the ministerial conference to be held from 19-20 April.
