Nat'l Quran Recitation Contest Concludes in Uzbekistan

The final stage of the 22nd edition of national Quran recitation contest was held on April 19 at Khwaja Alambardar Mosque in Tashkent, the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to IQNA’s branch in Central Asia, this edition of the contest was organized by the Office for Muslims’ Religious Affairs in Uzbekistan in cooperation with Mawarannahr Publishing House and the Mosque.
The final stage was held with the presence of Othman Khan Alimov, the Grand Mufti, officials and the staff of the office, scholars and clerics in Uzbekistan and some 1500 guests.
Students from seminaries, Islamic institutes and the Islamic university of Tashkent competed with each other in the categories of Tarteel and Tajweed.
The contest began with recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran by Kamaluddin Numanov, top winner of the previous stage of the contest, and continued with a speech by the Grand Mufti who stressed the importance of dissemination of Quranic culture in the society taking into account that Muslim population of the country is increasing and the youth are more interested in Quranic educations.
Most of the winners of the final stage were among the seminary and university students of the Uzbekistan's Islamic Centers.
