According to IQNA’s branch in Europe, it was held for the students of Russia’s Islamic universities.
Muftiat Council of Russia announced that the opening ceremony of the contest began with recitation of some verses of Quran and addressed by Rafiq Mohammad Shin, president of Islamic University of Russia.
Clarifying the duties of a preacher, he expressed satisfaction over the students' awareness regarding the key role of preachers in the society.
Noting that the Islamic university is taking major steps in training Muslim intellectuals, he stressed that the students are responsible for disseminating Islamic teachings in society as well as introducing Islam as a religion of peace.
Mohammad Shin added that the students as the preachers of the society ought to get further acquainted with the Holy Quran and Nabawi Hadiths.
“Therefore holding such competitions for students is a matter of significance,” he concluded.
Elyas Saberov, student of the university’s Center for Training Quran Memorizers, Sharabuddin Sharabuddinov, student of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences and Teymur Latifov, student of the Faculty of Theology of the university won the first to the third ranks respectively.
The contest was supervised by a jury panel comprised of scholars and lecturers of the Islamic University of Russia and the officials of the Office for Muslims’ Religious Affairs in Tatarstan.
