Majlis speaker’s international affairs deputy Hossein Sheikholeslam said anti-Islamic measures like the burning the Quran are based on a deliberate, hidden strategy of the United States adopted during the George Bush Junior term.
Such measures are certainly based on organized and structured policies, he told IQNA.
Sheikholeslam condemned the recent Quran burning by American pastor Terry Jones, saying this is not the first time these anti-Islamic acts occur with the support and corroboration of the US government.
He said the US seeks to do harm to relations between faiths and intensify the antagonism towards Islam in the West.
“Such actions, which are in line with the US occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, are taking place at a time when the US has learned after three decades that it can not confront Islam and the Islamic Revolution,” secretary general of the International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada said.
He added that the Zionists are actually behind all of this. “The Zionists are the number one designer and supporter of these [anti-Islamic] policies, because the strength of Islam and the Islamic Republic translates into their decline. That is why the Zionists have mobilized to intensify opposition to Islam in the West.”
Sheikholeslam regarded Muslim country’s reaction as inadequate, saying there needs to be a more active reaction based on the UN charter and international laws.
“The most important measure the Muslim world needs to take is mobilize against such policies and behaviors of the Zionists and Americans,” he went on to say.
The controversial Florida pastor once again burned copies of the Quran and a depiction of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Saturday, a move strongly condemned by Evangelical leaders.
