Qatar Quran Competition to Kick off Today

The 19th edition of Qatar’s nationwide Quran competition will begin this evening, April 30, in the Qatari capital of Doha, Ash-Sharq daily reported.
Over 1500 Qatari citizens as well as expatriates will compete at different levels in the category of memorization of the Holy Quran.
It is aimed at encouraging people to memorize and contemplate the verses of the Holy Quran and promote a relation with the Book of God among the younger generation.
The jury panel of the competition is headed by Ahmed Al-Misrawi, the top Quran reciter of Egypt, Muhammad Al-Mahmoud, head of the organizing committee said.
He added that winners of the contest will receive cash prizes ranging from 36,000 to 60,000 Qatari rials.
A Quranic exhibition is also planned to be mounted on the sidelines of the competition.
