The West is trying to complete the puzzle of economic sanctions against Iran by imposing a media embargo as well.
This is according to Morad Enadi, director general of the Expatriate Iranians Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, also told IQNA that taking the Islamic Republic of Iran’s TV channels off the air first and foremost harms principles like the one related to free flow of information that the West claims to advocate.
He said depriving many Europeans of getting the information they require from these networks is a stark violation of their citizenship rights.
Enadi noted that banning Iranian networks is also a move by the West to further monopolize the ultra-atmosphere space, which is legally a common human heritage.
The principle of free flow of information necessitates listening to the voice of the opponents, and this principle has been violated by the West’s recent approach, he underlined.
“Western idealism considers its lifestyle and its cultural and social values to be a standard for assessing the legitimacy of other countries’ norms and policies,” the official stated, adding that if societies opt to move against the standards set by the West, they are scolded.
“This is evident in the current political, economic, and cultural challenges between the West and Islam as well as the West and other cultures and civilizations such as China.”
He referred to assimilation as the ultimate goal of the West in the international arena, noting that there are paradoxes, however, in the West’s attempts that the world public opinion recognizes more and more.
“For example, when the barbaric massacre of Palestinians by Israel is censored whereas explosion of a small bomb in Israel is highlighted, the world public opinion asks why there is no balance in reporting by the Western media.”
Enadi further said the West’s fear of Iranian media’s revealing the truth, especially following the Islamic Awakening is a major reason for the West’s attempts to ban Iranian networks.
He urged that Iranian cultural representatives in other countries should reveal the spuriousness of the West’s claims about free flow of information.
