Intellectuality, attachment, faith, pure intention, fortitude, compassion, and moderation are the six criteria for spiritual growth in universities, Culture Ministry’s Quran and Etrat Deputy said.
In a meeting with the Quran and Etrat experts of the Ministry of Health, Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Mohammadi added that development of Quranic activities has different dimensions, one of which is faith in the Quran.
He said faith has two pillars, Ma’rifa (knowledge) and affection. “If the Mari’fa we gain about the Quran creates affection in us and links us to the Quran, then faith has been formed.”
The cleric underlined that faith has different levels and that God in the Quran calls on the faithful to elevate the level of their faith.
He noted that another dimension of developing the Quranic culture is acting upon Quranic teachings.
“Development of the Quranic culture can be likened to a tree whose fruit is acting upon the Quran.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi urged that universities try to identify and promote civilization-building factors in order to revive the Islamic civilization.
He stressed that the great problem Muslim communities are facing is that they have gotten distanced from the Quran.
The official pointed to the Islamic Awakening in the region and said that the closer Islamic countries get to the Quran, the more Awakened they become.
He said the Islamic Awakening has been the result of conditions which let Islamic countries get closer to the Holy Quran.
The Islamic Revolution and its messages were also among the factors that paved the way for the emergence of the Islamic Awakening in the Muslim world, he added.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi noted that once there were a few Shia Muslims in the entire continent of Africa but since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the number has risen to over 25 million.
During the meeting, which was held on Monday, January 7, the Quranic budget and Quranic festivals of the Health ministry were discussed.
