Verse 104 of Surah Al-e Imran represents an example of the diplomacy of unity, a cleric said.
Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Hossein Ebrahimi added that this verse “Let there be one nation of you that shall call to righteousness, ordering honor, and forbidding dishonor. Those are the prosperous,” reminds us that unity and righteousness toward the Islamic Ummah are a Quranic strategy.
Member of the Combatant Clergy Association underlined that the issue of unity is an issue whose dimensions should always be thought about and that efforts should be made to reinforce unity in the Islamic Ummah.
Pointing to verse 102 of the same Surah “Oh you believers, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims”, he underlined that in Quran’s view, Taqwa (God-fearing) is necessary for unity.
“If there is no Taqwa, unity will be destroyed by hypocrisy and the hypocrites.”
Hojat-ol-Islam Ebrahimi stressed that scholars and the elites should constantly remind people of the need for unity and try to come up with strategies to remove the obstacles on the way of unity.
He added that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei has always urged for Islamic unity and solidarity and has precious guidelines about the issue.
He said the diplomacy of unity that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has mentioned is a new and effective imitative that will have profound effects on enhancing unity in the Muslim Ummah.
According to the cleric, losing unity is tantamount to the defeat of the Islamic Ummah.
He urged that Shia and Sunni Muslims should emphasize their common grounds in order to achieve unity.
Hojat-ol-Islam Ebrahimi also stressed that there needs to be an active diplomacy to boost relations among Islamic schools of thought.
Of course, the diplomacy of proximity among Islamic schools of thought has been actively pursued by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the past decades and that raises the hope for enhanced unity in the Islamic world and great victories for the Muslim Ummah, he went on to say.
