Sheffield’s Mosques to Celebrate Milad Un-Nabi

Sheffield’s mosques will be celebrating Milad Un-Nabi, birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), on Sunday 20th January 2013.
The most important part of Eid Milad Un-Nabi is focusing upon the character of the Prophet; on his teachings, sufferings, and how he forgave others. As well as recounting the Prophet's life, salutations and poetry in his praise are recited.
In Sheffield, the Council of Mosques holds an annual celebration to mark Milad Un-Nabi and this year Madina Masjid are pleased to be hosting the main event on Sunday 20th January.
Prayers will be held in the Mosque at 1pm followed by a procession through local streets; on return to the mosque a number of keynote speeches in Urdu and English will be given as well as the serving of Asian food to all visitors.
Birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is celebrated by Sunnis on the 12th of third month of the Islamic calendar while the Shias celebrate it on the 17th of the month. Muslims throughout the world celebrate between 12-17th Rabiul Awwal as The Islamic Unity Week.
