Wahabism is the second greatest threat to the Islamic Ummah after the US and Zionism, a Tunisian Friday prayer leader said.
Speaking during a visit to the Iranian cultural center in Tunis, Sheikh Musa Latif added that the diversity of Islamic schools of thought is not a problem because all Muslims worship one God and have faith in the Quran and the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), IQNA’s ICRO branch reported.
“The existence of a few Fiqhi (jurisprudential) differences can not undermine real unity among Shia and Sunni Muslims,” he underlined.
Sheikh Musa Latif, who had been expelled from Tunisia during the reign of former dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, further praised the stances of the Islamic Republic of Iran against the world arrogance and said Iran’s call for Islamic unity is in line with following the Sirah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The Islamic Ummah ought to recognize the importance of unity and be vigilant against the plots of the enemies of Islam, he added.
“I have always emphasized in my Friday prayer sermons that what some media say against Iran are baseless. How can the Iranian nation that has stood up against the world arrogance and supported the oppressed Palestinian nation since day one, be an enemy of Muslims?”, the cleric asked.
Iranian Cultural Attaché Sadeq Ramezani Golafzaei in meeting with Sheikh Musa Latif underlined the major role of Muslim scholars in realization of Muslim unity.
He regarded the Tunisian nation as a true example of awakening and said Tunisia’s history has proven that the scholars, thinkers and elites as well as the nation of Tunisia have always rejected any religious or sectarian extremism and promoted unity and moderation.
Ramezani Golafzaei said that opposing the world arrogance and fighting the Zionist regime are the two common characteristics of the Iranian and Tunisian nations.
He further referred to the international conference on Muslim unity that is annually held in Iran as a venue for thwarting the enemies’ conspiracies against the Islamic Ummah.
At the end of the visit, the Iranian cultural attaché presented a copy of the Quran printed in the Islamic Republic of Iran as a gift to Shiekh Musa Latif.
