Member of the Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Abbas Ka’abi described Imam Ali (AS) as the role model for Islamic unity.
Speaking to IQNA, he said the conduct of Imam Ali (AS) during the rule of the three first Caliphs should be taken as a model of understanding for the Muslim Ummah and the diplomacy of unity.
According to the senior cleric, the diplomacy of unity is the only viable strategy for strengthening unity and promoting proximity in the Islamic Ummah and standing against the world arrogance and international Zionism.
“The enemies of Islam and the Islamic Ummah are attempting to weaken the Muslim world and their strategy is intensifying Fitna (sedition) and fomenting Sunni-Shia conflicts. In fact, the enemies are against both Shi’ites and Sunnis.
“The enemies only pursue their own interests. The Islamic Ummah has no choice but to implement this strategy (diplomacy of unity). We should work also for imprvoing the capabilities of the Muslim Ummah in different fields such as politics, culture, economy and society.”
He underlined the responsibility of the elites in the Muslim world to promote unity, saying that scholars and elites should strive to enhance dialogue and prevent the Takfiri (considering fellow Muslims as infidels) ideology from spreading.
The Ayatollah urged the leaders of Muslim countries, as well as intellectuals, thinkers, scholars, seminaries, and people to work for the progress of the diplomacy of unity.
He underlined that insight, awareness and vigilance against the ploys of the enemies help the Muslim Ummah to get closer to the diplomacy of unity.
Ayatollah Ka’abi went on to say that Ayatollah Araki, who heads the Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, is making endeavors using all the opportunities to advance the diplomacy of Islamic unity.
