Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Ali Rezaei Esfehani, who heads the Al-Mahdi Quranic Research Center, told IQNA that introducing interdisciplinary Quran exegeses can help scholars redefine and remodel humanities’ objectives, foundations, methods, and issues.
He said that is the objective of Al-Mahdi Quranic Research Center.
The scholar turned to the specialized Quran interpretation courses offered by the center, saying that the courses features issues like Quran and education, Quran and management, and Quran and sociology.
“Our humanities should be based on Quranic foundations and this is the main mission of the specialized Quran interpretation courses held at the center,” he stated.
Director of the Al-Mustafa international University’s Quran School further said issues presented in the center’s courses are the day’s issues that are needed to be addressed.
“Without trying to impose anything on the Quran, we take questions and topics from contemporary sciences and see what the Quran says about them. This is the method Martyr Sadr introduced as thematic interpretation of the Quran.”
Hojat-ol-Islam Rezaei Esfehani noted that the courses have been received very well by the scientific community, adding that university students and seminarians usually take the courses.
Given the extensiveness of the issues, the courses are predicted to continue through the next year, he said.
The cleric went on to say that the discussions of the courses will be presented in the form of a book for those interested.
