Prominent Muslim and Christian religious scholars attending a forum in Eastern France urged for an end to sectarian violence and discrimination against the followers of different faiths.
More than 50 religious personalities took part in the Second Islam-Christianity Forum in Lyon, and issued a final statement against sectarian violence.
The forum was held after the rise in violence against different religions in France and in line with creation of a suitable ground for further convergence of religious figures to confront radical currents and movements.
Part of the statement reads, “We want to coexist and live with one another peacefully to serve all citizens and have a friendly life, and our aspiration is to materialize living in a peaceful society alongside all men and women with all their good wills, diverse cultures, religions and beliefs.”
