The three –day competition was held in the categories of Quran recitation, memorization of 5 and 15 Juzes (parts) and memorization of the entire Quran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) hosted the event in Tehran.
In Quran recitation, Iran’s Mehdi Saedi won the first title with Alaeddin bin Haji from Brunei, Mahmoud Noorahmed from Malaysia, Tariq Elham from Palestine and Muhammad Yunis Alawi from Afghanistan coming second to fifth, respectively.
In memorization of the entire Quran, Hassan Rajabi from Iran bagged the top prize. The other title winners in this category were Balal Ahmed from Pakistan, Othman Ahmed Mahmoud from Sudan, Muhammad Saleh Baldi from Guinea, and Abdullah Muhammad Abuasil from Jordan.
In the category of memorization of 5 Juzes of the Quran, it was also Iran’s representative Mohammad Sharifi who came first. He was followed by Khalil Al-Saeedi from Oman, Muhammad Noorasalam from Bangladesh, Muhammad Shahed from Pakistan, and Darid Al-Daridi from Jordan.
Falah Fazalan from Sudan took home the first prize in memorization of 15 Juzes of the Quran. Other winners were Bassam Mahmoud from Jordan, Waqar Ahmed from Pakistan, Seyyed Hamid Rezaee from Iran and Rahimullah Rahmani from Afghanistan.
The winners in each category received cash prizes as well as certificates of honor.
