Iranian Majlis speaker has said that promotion of extremist ideologies by Takfiri groups is the most challenging problem ahead of Muslim people in the Islamic world.
Ali Larijani made the remarks yesterday addressing commemoration ceremony of Ayatollah Taskhiri, former secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thoughts.
He said that these people [extremists] retain mistaken beliefs and never discuss what they believe in.
He called upon all Muslims to make all-out efforts in order to uproot all extremist views believing that biased and intransigent Wahabist and Salafist currents will mislead the society.
Dr Larijani said that Wahabist and Salafist currents are after fomenting division among followers of different faiths and by monopolizing various media try to promote their mistaken ideologies and display a violent image of Islam.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he hailed Ayatollah Taskhiri’s efforts in line with reinforcing unity and solidarity among followers of different faiths attaching great significance to the issue of proximity at this juncture.
He said that Ayatollah Taskhiri has great mastery over Fiqh (jurisprudence) and Islamic tenets describing organization of such programs rewarding and helpful for developing proximity of Islamic schools of thought.
