Ayatollah Taskhiri Receives Top Medal of Service

The national medal of service of the first order was granted to Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri on Sunday.
The former secretary general of the Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought received the medal for his efforts for enhancing unity and proximity in the Muslim world.
The ceremony for granting the medal of service was held during the opening of the 26th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran.
The ceremony was attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohsen Araki who currently serves as secretary general of the forum, as well as foreign and Iranian participants in the international Islamic unity conference.
In a brief speech, Ayatollah Taskhiri, who is currently an advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei, said that materializing unity in the Muslim Ummah is a preliminary step toward creating a society of Abedin (worshippers of God).
“I hope all of our activities and actions will be in line with promoting Taqrib (proximity) and unity among Muslims,” he added.
The 26th International Islamic Unity Conference is underway at Tehran's Summit Conference Hall. Top Iranian figures as well as scholars and thinkers from 102 countries have attended the three-day event.
