Iran Is Under Cruel Sanctions Because of Its Independence

The Islamic Republic of Iran is under the cruelest form of sanctions because it has remained independent, an Iranian cultural official said.
Javad Shamaghdari, who heads the Iranian Cinema Organization, made the remark a lunch event held in honor of foreign guests participating in the 31st Fajr International Film Festival.
“Our dear and great country is under the cruelest global sanctions only because it wants to remain independent and achieve the day’s science and technology,” he stated.
Mr. Shamaghdari underlined that the Iranian science, technology and civilization have no message but message of peace and friendship.
“I hope you will convey the Iranian people’s message of peace and friendship to your colleagues and to your country,” he told the foreign guests.
Iran’s most important event in the cinema industry, the Fajr International Film Festival is held annually on the occasion of the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.
The 31st edition of the event opened during a ceremony at Tehran's Vahdat Hall on Wednesday, January 30.
