An Ummah (nation) that seeks to advance and move forward should uphold unity, Bahrain’s senior Shia cleric said.
In his Friday prayer sermon on February 1, Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Ghassem added that unity is a must in the Islamic Ummah.
An Ummah that wants to remain permanent should not allow division but should remain united, the cleric stressed.
He also underlined that the continuation of the Muslim Ummah requires resorting to the religion.
Ayatollah Ghassem further referred to the situation in Bahrain, saying that the country’s nation is just seeking true reforms and creation of a relation between the nation and government within a correct framework that guarantees justice.
“Introducing reforms is something the people have been calling for since the uprising began and this nation has paid dearly for realizing it.”
He said that the Bahraini nation has used peaceful demonstrations to demand reforms but is faced with killing, imprisonment and torture (by the government).
