Iran has dispatched the second consignment of humanitarian aid, including foodstuff and detergents, to Palestinian and Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi delivered the shipment to the head of Lebanon's Higher Relief Committee Ibrahim Bashir during a ceremony in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Monday.
Iran sent its first aid consignment to Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon on January 23.
The Iranian ambassador voiced Iran’s opposition to foreign interference in Syria and called for dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition to help restore peace and stability to the Arab country.
The Syria crisis began in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel have been killed in the unrest.
The prolonged violence in the Arab country has forced many of its citizens, including Palestinian refugees in the country, to migrate to neighboring states such as Lebanon.
According to the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, some 150,000 people coming from Syria have taken refuge in Lebanon over the past months.
