Speaking to Palestine Online website, Hussein Halawa said before these uprisings, the West did not consider a due status for Muslims.
He added that the regional developments in recent years caused the West to reconsider its policies toward Muslims.
Halawa stated that the uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa caused Western nations to get interested in knowing about Islam.
Noting that there are some 40 million Muslims living in Europe He further underlined that the biggest problem Muslims in the West are facing is the issue of identity.
Muslims living in the West should maintain their beliefs and remain committed to Islamic teachings and also be active members of their society, he went on to say.
