Iraq's Nat'l Quran Memorization Contest Begins in Karbala

The 3rd edition of national Quran memorization contest in Iraq began on February 12 in the Holy city of Karbala.
According to the information website of the Dar-ol-Quran affiliated to Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine, 250 Quran memorizers from 12 provinces of the country are participating in the competition.
Organized by the Dar-ol-Quran, the three-day contest will run at Khatam-ul-Anbia Hall of the holy shrine until February 14.
Ammar Al-Khaza’i, in charge of the information office of the Dar-ol-Quran, said that different centers affiliated to the Dar-ol-Quran have also sent representatives to participate in the contest.
He added that the Dar-ol-Quran has formed a panel of judges comprising male and female Quran experts who supervise this edition of the contest in two separate sections.
As well as memorization of the Holy Quran’s verses, Quran recitation category has been included in the competition this year.
