Speaking at an interfaith dialogue forum with Austria’s Catholic Church on Sunday, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri said those who justify desecration under the pretext of freedom of expression are in conflict with their own conscience.
He underlined that respecting the sanctities of every human being is necessary for maintaining his dignity, adding that Muslims’ devotion to the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) is a part of their dignity.
Former secretary general of the Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought further pointed to a major inconsistency in the World Deceleration of Human Rights, saying that the declaration on the one hand mentions the right to equality and right to education and on the other hand refers to absolute and unlimited freedom as a human right, something that certainly leads to attacks on human dignity.
He hoped that the forum will lead to the conclusion that except for justice and worshipping God, there is no absolute right.
The interfaith dialogue forum with Austria’s Catholic Church was organized by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.
