2-Fold Rise in Conversion to Islam in France
The number of converts to Islam in France has doubled in the past 25 years, a religious affairs official in the country’s interior ministry said.
Bernard Godard said the rise in the number of people embracing Islam has been an important phenomenon in the country, Katibin website reported.
He said the trend has been especially significant since the year 2000.
Witnessing Muslims’ good conduct in different social and cultural arenas has been among the factors encouraging more and more French citizens to embrace Islam despite the anti-Islamic propaganda in the country.
There are 6 million Muslims living in France, between 100,000 to 200,000 of whom are new converts.
