Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Reza Ghaeminia told IQNA that Quran interpreters should consider all of the society’s issues and provide answers to new questions.
Today, all the needs of the society ought to be covered and different issues should be discussed based on Quranic teachings, he added.
The scholar noted that Quranic figures during the early days after the advent of Islam received the words of Revelation from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and conveyed them to people but Quran interpreters today shoulder a heavier responsibility as the needs of the Muslim society are more extensive now.
He underlined that Quran interpreters who want to discuss issues related to non-Quranic fields should have expertise in those fields as well.
“These issues are interdisciplinary and need different expertise. For example, if a Quran expert wants to discuss political issues, he needs to become an expert in political fields as well.”
The scholar stated that Quran interpreters should have a comprehensive view and act upon Quranic teachings.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Ghaeminia noted that the Quranic community should not enter political games.
He also called on Quranic institutes and centers to work for promote Quranic thinking and conduct in society.
