Indian Officials Visit Noor Microfilm Center

Directors of two Indian research centers visited different parts of Noor Microfilm Center at Iran's Culture Center in New Delhi, India.
According to IQNA’s ICRO branch, the visit was aimed at boosting cooperation between the Iranian cultural center and Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) and the Center for Iran-India Studies affiliated to Rohilkhand University in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh state.
Dr. Ishrat Alam, director of ICHR and Abhai Singh, head of the Indian center also met with Ali Fuladi, Iranian cultural attaché in India, and Khajepiri, head of Noor Microfilm Center.
The Iranian attaché stressed the need for strengthening relations between Iranian and Indian cultural centers in order to introduce and publish cultural heritage of the two countries and conduct joint research studies which he noted will be useful for the scientific societies of the two nations.
Abhai Singh stated that the first edition of a Persian language course is underway with 30 participants at the Center for Iran-India Studies, adding that the course is being held in cooperation with Iran’s Cultural Center in India.
He also appreciated the Iranian center’s involvement in developing the cultural programs of the Indian center adding that a seminar should be held to investigate the common heritage of Iranian and Indian civilizations.
After visiting different parts of Noor Microfilm Center, the officials got acquainted with various activities of the center such as preserving Quranic manuscripts, digitalizing them, publishing copies of the Holy Quran and Nahj-ul-Balaqa, Quranic calligraphies and illuminations as well as traditional binding of Quranic manuscripts.
The Noor Microfilm Centre was established and named after Qazi Noorullah Shushtari (d.1019 A.H.), the Iranian theologian, dialectician, writer, and poet. The centre started its function with the following aims: introducing and preserving the common cultural heritage of Iran and India under the frame work of common Islamic values, conducting studies and research works with the purpose of reviving and introducing work of the scholars of both the nations, establishing relations between research scholars, libraries and centers of oriental studies in India and institutes of Islamic studies in Iran, with the purpose of achieving better acquaintance and mutual cooperation in scientific and cultural areas.
