Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon said that in 2006 the resistance movement smashed the enemy’s new Middle East plan.
Ghazanfar Roknabadi made the remark in a ceremony held in the city of Tyr, Lebanon, to commemorate the martyred leaders of Lebanon’s resistance movement.
He said during the 33-day war in 2006, the entire world had gathered to break the will of Lebanon’s freedom, resistance and dignity but failed.
“We are beside the oppressed nations and support their right to freedom,” Roknabadi said. “We are on the side of the resistance movement of Palestine and the resistance movement of Lebanon that forced the Zionist enemy out of Lebanon in 2000.”
The Iranian diplomat underlined that the resistance movement managed to achieve victory in the first and second wars in Gaza through Jihad and Tawakkul (putting one’s trust in God).
He stressed that resistance is the only way for liberation of Palestine from the sea to the river.
Roknabadi referred to the situation in Syria and said the Syria is being punished today for siding with resistance and for refusing to give in to international and regional pressures.
He emphasized that the solution to Syria’s crisis lies in direct talks between the Syrian government and the opposition without any outside interference.
Roknabadi also commemorated Martyr Hassan Shateri who headed the Iranian delegation overseeing the reconstruction of southern Lebanon, saying that Shateri was martyred on the path of Palestine and Quds.
