Esam Al-Shanti, director of OIC information dissemination office announced this in a press conference on Tuesday, adding that the network will broadcast programs in three languages, fr.islammessage website reported.
He said the plan for launching the TV channel had been proposed 2012 at a meeting of member states’ media experts.
The network will begin by broadcasting programs in English, Arabic and French and in time will cover more languages, he noted.
According to Mr. Al-Shanti, the location of the TV channel’s headquarters has not been finalized yet, but it will be in either in Cairo, Dubai or Beirut.
“It will also have offices around the world to cover important events,” he added.
The OIC official went on to say that the TV network is aimed at introducing Islam, confronting Islamophobia, bringing different cultures closer together, and highlighting the need for cooperation among OIC’s 57 member states.
